Airborne Radar

A slip ring assembly for an AWACS radar may be carrying a lot of power and very large amounts of data. It will be subject to random bump loads and high frequency cyclical loads. But it will not be heavy and it will still have to fit into a tight envelop. On the other hand a nose cone radar on a combat aircraft is likely to a have a small and very light slip ring assembly.
